das neue autoplate-release kommt von techno-veteran david "move d" moufang, label-head von source-records, aus heidelberg. und damit hat er uns einmal mehr gezeigt was in ihm steckt. aufgenommen auf einer veranstaltung in der düsseldorfer johanneskirche erwartet den hörer einen entspannten longplayer für den advanced user mode.
musik für alle lebenslagen!
außerdem empfehle ich allen, sich doch mal einen gig von david anzuschauen um festzustellen wie vielseitig er doch ist. für alle die von sich behaupten "open-minded" zu sein wird das sicherlich eine ganz besonder erfahrung werden. weil ob techno-party, rave, jazz-festival, hörbuchvertonung oder halt im chill out... der david zieht dich immer in seinen bann und du kannst gar nicht genug bekommen.

I was both smitten and puzzled by this Autoplate release the first time I heard it. An album full of signature Thinner sounds enveloped within a comfortable lounge-like atmosphere that is characteristic of many Autoplate releases. In “Live at Johanneskirche” David Moufang merges structured melodies and rhythms, soft clicks, 4/4 beats. dub house/tech inspired moments, and occasional vocals with the more relaxed mood and organic ambience of Autoplate.
“Mayfirst” sets the tone with an early cavernous, resonating ambiance and slow, fragmented beats which gradually evolve into a fast-paced structured piece with an infectious beat and a catchy hook while beautiful, reverberating tones play in the background . Deep, smooth sub-bass and lush chords on “Zone Red” will drain you of any tension and induce a state of calm. On “Zug” the interplay of rushing noise, cadenced clicks, a strong rhythm, heavy bass drum, and cacophonous electronics will energize you again. “Evil” is a highly rhythmic-oriented track with slightly inharmonious keyboards, driving bass lines, and some truly wicked percussion. “Just Do It (to somebody)” is a moody composition where an initially playful dub-funk attitude gives way to dark, melancholy chords, followed by a captivating solo of dense drumming playing against a background of rumbling bass notes . The following three tracks, “Twin Towers“, Baked Bread”, and “Emotionally Yours” seem to be variations of the same theme where the focus is on repetition, powerful rhythms, and heavy beats all riding above a layer of harmony. With “Jo Interlude” repetition continues to be an important ingredient but in a more minimal way. “FM Heaven” and “Stringent” are down-tempo compositions of gentle melodies, glimmering electronics, and mild beats. “Deedee Darko” is an experimental creation in which peculiar animated electronics intermingle with a cyclic bass riff and basic drum beat. “Raise this Flap” is another experimentally tinged track with a mildly disjointed beginning tempered by bowed tones, synths, and vocal samples, rising above a backdrop of solid bass and 4/4 beats. “Code 69” brings the album to a soothing, but magnificent, finale beginning with a minimal blend of droning synths, low bass and warm beats while gradually reaching a cinematic climax. -LAJ-
